Local 26 News

Welcome to our new website! We have just started, but think that this will be a very good representation of what we do.

Please check out the new Members Area. This is a special area of the website where Local 26 members can read our newsletters and access information that is specific to member issues, as well as the current By-Laws, Scale Book and Local Roster. Please register as a member, and if you have not done so, please also register for GoProMusic, which is the international referral service of the AFofM. Our website is linked to that site, and can provide information to anyone looking for musicians. Please use these valuable resources to your advantage. If you need help with registering for either our members area or GoPro, please contact the office at 309-674-0507 to set up an appointment for us to help you. We want all of you involved.

We have downloaded our most recent newsletter to the members area. Please register to access it and other valuable information. We would eventually like to go green on our newsletters, and have them available on the website or to be emailed to you.

Please also register at the AFofM website by clicking here. You can also see a roster of ALL AFofM musicians. It's a great way to locate old friends and associates, or to see a current full roster from any Local.

If you have any upcoming performances, please let us know, and we will post this on the site. You can send us that information by email at livemusic@peoriamusicians.com

We will be adding exciting new features, such as scanned pictures of musicians and groups that have been part of the AFM and a part of our local community of over 100 years. If you have old photos of you or your bands, please let us know that as well, and we will scan them and place them on the site.

Please enjoy the new site, and let us know what you think. We want to make this a site that is easy for you to use, and provides the information that you need.

Thank you so much for being a part of our Local, and our website.

Some Pictures of our Members

During the next few weeks we will be adding pictures and short biographies of some of our members. If you would like to be spotlighted in this section, please send a picture (via email if possible) and a short bio of yourself, and we well post that here.

Cecil Grubbs is a member of our Executive Board, our Sgt. at Arms, and a fine drummer. You can hear him playing Jazz, Blues and Popular music throughout the Central Illinois Area. He also teaches private and group drum lessons

Bill Sutton plays bass for many bands in our area. He can play any style and is a pleasure on the gig. He is another

Tom Olszewski plays String Bass with the Galesburg Symphony, Clarinet with the Peoria Municipal Band, and gigs around the area playing jazz bass.

Many of our members play with the
Bill Hardesty Orchestra. This dance/swing/variety band has been around for many years, and is now led by John Hardesty.

Nancy West and the Colleagues play a wide variety of music and can make virtually any audience happy.

Lloyd Hedges is one of our hardest working members, averaging about 300 gigs a year.
